Prof. Anwar is graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Egypt in December 1977. She obtained her training from several institutions in different countries (France, USA, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Canada and Finland).
She is the PI of several projects funded from different sources nationally and internationally.
Internationally, she is a member of several Committee and Associations including Health Literacy Working Group, WHO Global Coordination Mechanism for The Prevention and Control of NCD (GCM/NCD), WHO since 2016, the Jury of the UNESCO – International Prize for Research in Life Sciences (Since 2009), Collegium Ramazini, Carpi, Italy since 2006.
She has more than 100 International and national publications.
Nationally, she is a member of several Committee at the Ministry of Health, Academy of Science and Technology and the National Women Council.
Professor Anwar received several international prizes and awards including Marie Curie, FP7, EC, (2008), Dr. A. T. Shousha Foundation Prize (WHO) for 2001, Fogarty International Fellowship Award, (1986) and the CEES Award, France (1986). Nationally, she received the State Merit Award for Medical Sciences, Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt (2020), Egyptian National Award of the Academy of Sciences, (1992), Ain Shams University Award for excellence in research (2013), Ain Shams University Honorary Award, (2017), and several other awards.
